Our Day in the Kitchen

Our first day of class was so much fun!
We got to "play" in the kitchen!

The class was able to make some special soup and also experiment with milk.

we were given these instructions...
and with one drop of detergent...
the colors ran to the sides
and eventually made TIE-DYE!

These activities showed me that lessons can be taught with simple materials you can find in your very own kitchen!

My Inner Scientist

When I saw our Spring Schedule, I was a little disappointed to discover that we had a Science Methods course simply because of the fact that I am not very confident in my science skills or knowledge of the subject. I think it comes as no surprise that many other students as well as teachers feel the same way. There are many stereotypes and negatives attitudes about science that have formed since I was a child. From reading our textbook, I was beginning to learn that science is not the scary subject that we dread facing in school, but it is the ability to inquire, ask questions, and explore. That means, science could totally be fun and interesting! It can be taught in the classroom but also be explored outside of it. Like any other subject in school, as long as we can connect the material to the students and make it engaging, the students will learn to love it!
and I think I will learn to love it too...
It's time to unleash the scientist within me!
